Refurbishing Sun Rooms for Acute and Continuing Care

The sun rooms for both the Acute Care and Continuing Care Wing of Bow Island Health Centre are in need of refurbishing, redecorating and to bring them up to current safety standards.
The sun room on Acute Care was last updated in 2000 with funding from the Health Foundation and is showing it’s age! The furnishings and window coverings no longer meet the standards for infection prevention and safety.
The sun room on Continuing Care (fondly known as “The Bistro” due to it’s unique decoration and furnishings) was last updated by the Foundation in 2007. As well as bringing this room up to standards, there has been a need identified to make the furnishings more appropriate to the residents now residing in the facility. There needs to be more flexible furnishings to accommodate families and residents requiring mobility aids (walkers, wheelchairs). The Auxiliary to the Bow Island Health Centre has actively been raising funds for this project and is partnering with the Health Foundation for this project.
