Annual Scholarship Program
Initially started in 2002, the annual scholarship was awarded to a high school student interested in pursuing a career in a health care field. In the ensuing years the program has expanded and now scholarships are offered annually in three different categories in the healthcare field:
- an AHS employee for continuing education (e.g. an RN taking a post grad oncology course, administrative support taking courses in Human Resources, new Food Services Supervisor taking an administration course)
- a high school student entering a healthcare field (e.g. Nursing program – RN, LPN, HCA, Pharmacy, Pre-med, Kinesthesiology)
- a student from the service area entering the second or subsequent years in post-secondary health care program. (e.g. Nursing program – RN, Pharmacy, Pre-med, Medicine, Kinesthesiology)
The value of each scholarship is $500.
Application information is advertised locally, distributed to all of the high schools, and is available in the Foundation office and AHS entities within the service area of the Foundation.
Recipients are notified of the award at the beginning of their program and receive the award after providing the Foundation with evidence of completion of the course/year of study applied for.
